System requirements

A strict adherence to standards and norms insures unparalleled portability across platforms.

Alphinat SmartGuide is built on a infrastructure that isolates the core engine from the deployment environment. The SmartGuide suite can therefore be deployed in a J2EE as well as a .NET environment. Another advantage is that Smartlets can be ported without modification from one environment to another, be it JSR-168 portals, J2EE/Servlet application servers and .NET environments.

Below is partial list of supported platforms and servers. The exact system requirements vary according to the platform on which SmartGuide is deployed and to the type of user that is accessing it.

For SmartGuide Designer users

Once SmartGuide Designer is installed, workers can access it using a simple web browser. No installation is required on their workstation. A minimal resolution of 800 x 600 is recommended to avoid horizontal scrolling within the Designer interfaces. SmartGuide Designer has been successfully tested in the following browsers:

  • Internet Explorer 6 and later
  • Firefox 1 and later
  • Netscape 6.2 and later
  • Mozilla 1 and later
  • Opera 9 and later
  • Safari 1 and later
  • Camino 1 et and later

For end users

Alphinat SmartGuide imposes no restrictions regarding access to the applications it helps build. It's entirely up to you which minimum browser version you wish to support. Presentation aspects are managed in templates using either JSP, ASP or XSLT tags.
