What's new in SmartGuide 3

Additional field types

SmartGuide Designer now supports 13 dynamic field types including file uploads and 2 types of static fields (text and images).

Global and local fields

The new version better separates global fields (shared by multiple Smartlets) from local fields (used by a single Smartlet).

Web services and extension functions

It is now possible to make web service calls and use extension functions without writing a single line of code. SmartGuide Designer includes easy-to-use interfaces that allow to perform mappings.

Enriched validation rules

Version 3 of SmartGuide Designer allows performing more syntaxic and semantic field validations. When creating check box fields for example, it is now possible to indicate the minimum and maximum number of selections that can be made without any coding.

Improved rules engine

The rules engine now allows defining rules based on field comparisons in addition to rules based on the value of a single field.

Application reuse

The latest version allows reusing an existing application within another Smartlet without requiring IT assistance.

Multilingual support

SmartGuide Designer 3 is available out-of-the-box in English and French. Additional languages can be added through a property file.

Multi routing support

The new version allows routing collected data to multiple systems at a time. Data can also serve to dynamically populate any number of PDF forms.

Data encryption

With version 3, you can encrypt fields in the database with a simple mouse click.

Tags

In addition to XSLT tags, version 3 now also supports presentation templates written in JSP or ASP.
