Government of Québec: Business Services Portal

The business services government portal presents a single access point for businesses to deal with all of government. SmartGuide played a large role in the implementation of the portal.

A Smartlet allows entrepreneurs to quickly identify all the formalities they have to comply with in order to register their company with the provincial government and to apply for the permits required according to their field of activity. This Smartlet provides businesses with a single access point to access information from 57 government agencies in a simple and user-friendly manner. Other Smartlets allow business owners to rapidly comply with formalities. The form-filling experience is greatly simplified through a series of wizard-based steps which only present relevant form sections according to an applicant's situation. Data re-keying is eliminated thanks to SmartGuide's data-centric model which permits reusing collected data across multiple Smartlets, in addition to allowing data to be used to dynamically populate existing PDF forms and to be sent to the agencies back-end systems. Another Smartlet allows businesses to manage their profile and associated data.

Government of Québec: Citizen Services Portal

The Government of Québec: Citizen Services Portal is a single access point for Quebec citizens to deal with government.

SmartGuide was used to present personalized information and services according to a citizen's needs. A Smartlet filters information that resides in a dozen Content Management Systems and presents a unified synopsis while leaving each information sheet intact (which the citizen can consult).

Income Tax Return

This demonstration shows the possibility of pre-filling Smartlet fields with data contained in external systems as well as SmartGuide's support of complex and variable calculations.

A dozen of calculations are made and fifty or so fields from 2 PDF forms are dynamically populated. This demonstration also shows how contributions to retirement funds (RRSP) affect the amount of taxes to pay.

Personal loan application

This Smartlet automates the first part of a loan application by providing a preliminary response according to the applicant's credit profile. The application incorporates complex and variable calculations. For example, the loan rate varies according to the term and amount of the loan, and the monthly payments are calculated using the following standard formula:

This demonstration also shows how collected data can be sent to an external system in addition to being used to dynamically generate a pre-filled PDF form for local saving.
